Scholarship Application – Due by April 7

The Friends of the Hamilton Schools Foundation is pleased to announce we have automated the Scholarship Application process. All documents and information will be transmitted electronically through our Application Portal.

Before you begin your application process, please make sure to have the following information handy:

  • Student ID
  • High School Transcript
  • SAT score
  • ACT score
  • Student Handbook
  • Student Aid Report (SAR) (Calculated by submitting online FAFSA)

We recommend only starting the application process when you have these items available.

Endowed Scholarship Funds

Mason V. Hargett and Iva M. Hargett Scholarship

Awarded on both MERIT and NEED. Eligible applicants must be a Senior in attendance the 7th and 8th semester at Hamilton. Applicants must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 at the 7th semester at Hamilton High school; and must have applied and been accepted at a post-secondary school.

Friends of The Hamilton Schools Foundation Scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semesters) at Hamilton High School.

William Enderlein Scholarship

Awarded on both MERIT and NEED. Eligible applicants must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semester) at Hamilton High School. The applicant must be a candidate for graduation. Applicants must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 at the 7th semester; must have applied and been accepted at a post-secondary school used to determine need for awarding scholarship.

The Pearl E. Badger Memorial Scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semester) at Hamilton High School and must enroll in a post-secondary school. The applicant must meet the criteria for National Honor Society (service, character, leadership), have a GPA of at least 3.25 and include 2 letters of recommendation and a personal statement of not more than 300 words.

VFW Post 1430 Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a direct relative (brother, sister, son, daughter, grandchild) of a Veteran of Foreign War. To be eligible a student: 1.) Must be pursuing an education in vocational course work at an accredited college, vocational-technical school, or other training institution, and 2.) Must provide proof of relationship to a veteran of a Foreign War (DD214 Form).

The Gerloff Family Memorial Scholarship

An applicant must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semester) at Hamilton High School. Priority will be given to applicants who major in music. Applicants majoring in Family Consumer Science (FCS) may also be considered for this scholarship.

Dale Kraft

To be eligible, a student must be going to a two-year school for a vocational degree (business, nursing, auto, welding, construction, drafting, CDL, etc.) or be pursuing an education degree with a vocational major or minor. Priority will be given to students in the industrial fields.

Moerkerke Vocational Scholarship

To be eligible, a student must be pursuing an education in vocational course work at an accredited college, vocational-technical school, or other training institution.

Miss Jack M. Crutchfield Scholarship

The Crutchfield Scholarship was formed as a bequest from the Crutchfield estate. “Miss Jack” Crutchfield was a Bitterroot native who graduated from Hamilton High School in 1920. This scholarship is earmarked for a deserving young woman who plans on attending a college or university within the Montana University System.
Successful student recipients may reapply for this scholarship on an annual basis up to three consecutive years while pursuing their education degree if a 3.20 G.P.A. is maintained and student’s financial need remains. Their application will be considered in those subsequent years along with the applications of the current year’s HHS graduating class applicants.

The Stoenner Leadership Scholarship

Candidates for this scholarship shall be considered on leadership principally, and next on academic performance and need in equal considerations. To be eligible, an applicant must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semester) at Hamilton High school), and must graduate. You must enroll in a post-secondary school.

Virginia and Dean Vinal Music Scholarship

Must be a high school senior in the upper third of your class. Must be planning to major in music performance or music education.

Ravalli Sports Club Scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant must be a senior at Hamilton High School.
You must have a 2.5 G.P.A. or better. Priority will be given to students who have financial need. You must have played on or managed a high school soccer team, played soccer for Ravalli Sports Club or Ravalli United and show a strong commitment to soccer.

Hamilton Garden Club Scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semesters) at Hamilton High School. You must have a 2.5 G.P.A. or better. Priority will be given to students entering into the fields of Agriculture, Forestry and Conservation, or into a Vocational Trade.

First Security Bank Scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semesters) at Hamilton High School. You must have a 2.5 G.P.A. or higher. Priority will be given to students majoring in post-secondary classes of Business, Finance, or Information Technology. Student should show proven leadership and service skills in the community.

Alma Hays Art Scholarship

To be eligible, applicant must be a Hamilton High School senior, in attendance for both 7th and 8th semesters at Hamilton High School.

HHS Alumni

To be eligible, a student who is Hamilton High School Alumnus must be pursuing post-secondary education in academic, vocational or technical course work at an accredited college, vocational/technical school, or other accredited training institution, entering the third semester of course work or beyond. An applicant must also be a former recipient of a scholarship from the Friends of Hamilton Schools Foundation.

Michael Gary Belville Memorial Scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant must be a senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semester) at Hamilton High School and must enroll in a postsecondary school. The applicant must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and demonstrate service to the community. In addition, include an essay that explains the applicant’s financial need, include any demonstrated improvement over time or extenuating circumstances they dealt with during high school that would suggest they will be successful at the next level.

The Vinal Scholarship

The Vinal Scholarship is established by Dean and Virginia Vinal. Virginia Vinal began her teaching career at HHS as a Spanish teacher.  From 1952 to 1981 she developed an outstanding choral program at HHS   She was also credited as Founder of the Bitterroot Valley Chorus. Dean Vinal  was the band director at HHS from 1952 until 1977.  He composed the HHS Fight song. The scholarship is available to any Senior (in attendance 7th and 8th semesters) at Hamilton High School. 

The Pay-it-Forward Scholarship

The Paying-It-Forward Scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing post-secondary education in an academic, vocational or technical course work at an accredited college, vocational/technical school, or other accredited training institution. To be eligible the student must be enrolled both 7th and 8th semesters in Hamilton High School, with a graduation date during the 2020-2021 academic year.  The student must also have a GPA of 3.0 or better at the end of the seven semesters to be considered. GPA must be maintained through the eighth semester for the applicant to be awarded the scholarship.
