The Mason V. and Iva M. Hargett Scholarship was established to reward excellent scholastic performance. Iva was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Hamilton. Dr. Hargett, after having worked in Brazil and various laboratories in the United States, joined the scientific community at Rocky Mountain Laboratories. He and a colleague are credited with developing the Yellow Fever Vaccine, medical research which saved the lives of countless American and Allied soldiers in WWII.
